DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO HELP AN OLDER PERSON GET THE MOST OUT OF LIFE? Age Concern Hertfordshire is looking for caring people that have a bit of time to give to an older person in need of support.
Giving a few hours a week can make a world of difference-to you as well as the person you support! There is a great variety of rewarding volunteering roles, which suit different circumstances.
In the London Colney area there is a particular need for volunteers to join the Hospital Discharge & Independent Living scheme. Volunteers offer support by visiting about once a week, for up to 8 weeks, to help an older person regain their confidence and independence after a stay in hospital. A longer term commitment and friendship, with someone that feels lonely and isolated, can be built through the Volunteer Visiting scheme. If you have an hour to spare and would like to make a difference in your local community contact me, Lin Dixey, Hospital Discharge Worker in St Albans on 01727 850811.
