The purpose of the St. Albans and Harpenden Friendship Scheme is to provide volunteers for adults with a learning disability.
The idea is to set up one-to-one friendships ­ a volunteer with an adult with a learning disability.
People will be ³matched² together, based on their personalities, things they like to do, their age and where they live. Friends will see each other regularly, when and where it suits them best, either on their own or in a small group setting with the support of the co-ordinator.
The scheme provides recruitment, training and ongoing support to Volunteers who give some of their leisure time.
