Since reopening after a complete refit last November, use of the library has gone steadily up. More people are joining and borrowing, and the extra computers are in constant demand. Since March, we have been open 2.00 6.00 p.m on every afternoon in the week as well as on Saturday mornings, and it seems that this has made it easier for people to remember when to come to the library. Children can come on any day after school and find it open.
Useful reminders
Joining the library couldnąt be easier. Just take something with your name and address on to the library, for example a driving licence or utilities bill, and we can give you a library card immediately. Once a member, you can use any public library in Hertfordshire, borrow books or use a computer.
Donąt forget that we now have talking books on CD as well as cassette, as well as a selection of books in Bengali, Urdu and Arabic for people whose first language is not English. Books in several other languages can be requested.Computer use is free for library members for the first hour per day, but there are charges for printing or for computer use for non members.A home library service is available for people who are housebound and don't have anyone who can get to the library to choose their own books. It is run by volunteers who deliver them to your door, and return any which are finished with.
If you have pre-school children, the weekly Baby Rhyme Time or Storytime may be for you. For details of all these services, just ask in the library. The regular library manager is Helen Dommett, and she will be pleased to meet you
