Auntie Annie
Ask Auntie Annie - TheBase counselling service has now been running for a year and we would like to thank everyone who has supported us and our service. We feel that counselling is just one of the valuable services that The Base offers the young people of London Colney.
Some people still may not know who we are or what counselling is so here is a small explanation.
What is Counselling?
Counselling can give you support when things are difficult and help you find your strengths and build on them. Sharing or talking through difficulties with a trained counsellor who doesnŐt know you, your friends or your family can help you make sense of what you might be going through, and sort out what you feel. It is also FREE.
How can I get to see a counsellor at The Base?
You can text us on "07768368669" with your name. We will then text you back and arrange for you to come in and speak to our counsellor co-ordinator. If you do not have a mobile phone you can e-mail www.talk2some1@hotmail.co.uk. Both the phone and e-mail are confidential.
Then what happens?
After your first meeting with the co-ordinator if you decide that you want to go ahead with counselling we will arrange for you to see a counsellor. How many sessions will I need?
We offer five initial sessions this give you the opportunity to see if this is what you want; your counsellor will discuss this further with you. For some people, a few sessions may be all they need, while others may come for longer. All our sessions are based at "The Base" but there is a different entrance to ensure confidentiality.
Who will know that I am having counselling?
Only the people directly involved in the counselling service. Your counsellor will tell you more about our strict confidentiality policy when you come for an appointment.
